The Incredible Flexible Washable Reebok Skyscape

reebok skyscapeReebok Skyscape

Reebok did it again! They came out with the cutest, lightest (5 OUNCE!) , seamless, super comfy and totally machine washable (DID YOU HEAR ME???? I SAAAID MACHINE WASHABLE!!! how COOL is THAT?!) tennis shoe, perfect for daily wear! It’s call the Reebok Skyscape.

Sometimes you just want a cute minimal shoe that is cozy but doesn’t look like an athletic shoe for those days you want to be comfy but you don’t want to look like you are going for a run. If this is YOU, then you might want to try out this cool new pair of kicks.

The material is wild! It’s smooth, soft and stretchy material makes this shoe like nothing else I’ve ever put on my foot. Plus, it has a pillowy tongue with extra cushion so tight laces don’t cut off circulation or irritate the top of your foot. Basically, comfy was their focus and they nailed it. I wore it to work yesterday, knowing I was going to have to stand on my feet for several hours straight, and they didn’t let me down.

Check ’em out!

Next on my list are the purple ones! So stinkin’ cute! I’ll be sure to instagram & tweet out more pics, with the hashtag #livewithfire!

Best One-of-a-Kind Christmas Gift for Fitness

FitFluential LLC compensated me for this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

ReeboksI love fashion. I may not always be the most “fashionable”, but I love to “play” with style. Since there are not a lot of accessories you can wear while working out, (I mean, it’s not like you can wear bangle bracelets, chunky necklaces and chandelier earrings), you’re somewhat limited to the actual clothes you have to wear to get your sweat on.

For instance, I have to wear socks, so they might as well be fun! I have to wear tennis shoes, so they might as well be colorful. I often have to put my hair up in a ponytail, so why not wear pigtails with matching rubber bands? Why not, right?

FUN SOCKS

I wear workout clothes for a living. After years of wearing black and grey, I was super excited about all the pretty color that entered into the fitness world. Then I discovered cute tennis shoes that didn’t look like bulky tennis shoes. Slowly, but surely, I started wearing more tennis shoes with everyday clothing – because shoes were so much cuter than ever before. Since I have so many flashy colored Reeboks, I was ready to get a more neutral pair for every day use – in or out of the gym. I have have very little that matches grey, and NOTHING that matches blue, so I thought I’d try designing my next pair of shoes!  Here are some of my custom Nano 2.0s (my favorite in and out of the gym tenny!). Now I’m just trying to figure out which one to buy – OR should I try a new color combo?

Which one do you like best?

Reebok Nano 3.0 Product Review: 5 Things I Love

Nano 3.0People have been asking me how I like my new Reebok Nano 3.0s. Before I answer, I must tell you how much I love my Nano 2.0s already. I have to admit, I was a little bummed when I heard they had changed. I loved my old ones so much, I was worried I wouldn’t like these as much. However, like with anything else Reebok gets their hands on, they’ve made improvements.

It’s obvious they asked the pros what they’d like to see different, and better, and they did it. And, what I already liked, they kept. Here’s the lowdown…

5 Things I Love About the Nano 3.0.

Nano. 3.01. Wider toebox. This allows your toes to spread out for great balance. The Nano 2.0 already had a nice roomy toebox, but this is even roomier for even more stability.

2. 4 mm heel drop. This keeps your foot flat on the ground, great for heavy lifts when your heel should not be raised, but nice, flat and stable on the floor for maximum power production.

3. More durable. The rubberized cage that completely surrounds the shoe makes this shoe a lot more durable than the 3.0, as well as offers more support. They also used a stronger polyester on the outside of the shoe, called Rope Pro, specifically designed to be more durable during rope climbing.

nano 3.04.  Non-slip grip sole. This is great for all the crazy stuff we do in boot camp, or any other functional training program, like box jumps, mountain climbers, burpees, etc. It’s dependable gripping sole will help prevent you from falling on your face – cause, that’s no fun! 😉

5. Flexible sole for functional moves. Shoes that offer too much support can often be too stiff. As a result, they slip off the back of the heels when doing exercises like mountain climbers, squat thrusts, etc. This shoe has a nice easy bend at the toe box so your shoe and foot move together.

How do you know if Nanos are right for you?

  • Do you do heavy lifts, like dead lifts, squats, clean & jerk, split jerks, kettlebell snatches, high pulls, swings, etc?
  • Do you do sprints or short bursts of runs in your training?
  • Do you do a lot of plyometrics – like double unders, burpees, mountain climbers, tuck jumps, etc
  • Do you jump on tires, boxes, steps or other objects?
  • Do you climb rope or obstacles?
  • Do you like a minimalist shoe with a flat sole?
  • Are you tough on your shoes, where you wear holes in the fabric, side walls or toe?

If you are a marathon runner, these shoes are not for you. If you lift weights using only machines, it probably won’t matter what you wear. However, if you do any of the above training, these are a great cross-training shoe that allows your training to be versatile without having to change shoes for different exercises.

Here are what some CrossFit athletes had to say about the new Nano 3.0s.

How Flexible Are Your Tennis Shoes?

trip-to-bard-029This is what I think of when I think of jeans and tennis shoes. Sorta nerdy and less than fashionable. With that said, over the last 20 years of being in the fitness industry, I have NEVER been seen out shopping in tennis shoes. I’ve always worn tennis shoes to the gym and regular “girlie” shoes  when dressed in regular clothes. I’ve never liked the way tennis shoes looked with jeans, and I never thought tennis shoes looked nice with regular clothes – that is, until now. Reebok Realflex shoes are not just flexible in function, they are flexible in style.

realflexThe thinner, lighter material keeps this shoe streamlined and less bulky than a traditional tennis shoe. So, even when I’m wearing jeans, the cute little toe box looks nice poking out the bottom of my jeans. Since the colors are fun an colorful, they keep my outfits stylish, unlike many drab tennies that make you look like a tourist (’cause that’s how tourists dress around here in Florida).

This may not be that newsworthy to you, but to me – it is totally new and exciting. Finally I can dress comfortable without compromising style. Plus, I make the most out of my tennis shoes because they are not restricted for gym use only. So, if you buy right, you get more bang for your buck – and more fun too!

Here’s how I’ve been wearing my shoes lately…

Realflex Goes Shopping

Here are my feetsies surrounded by shopping bags as I was putting everything in my trunk. My Realflex shoes were my shoe of choice for every Christmas shopping trip I went on – and I got compliments on my shoes every where I went! Seriously, I wore a bright orange long sleeve shirt that said “Eat Clean, Train Dirty”, jean shorts and these orange and granite Realflex shoes – and people literally stopped me to tell me they loved my shoes. I even had an older gentleman pay me the sweetest compliment while shopping at Dillards. So, you see, you don’t have to “dress up” to be dressed nice.

Reebok Realflex

Realflex Takes Flight

My Realflex shoes were also my choice of shoe for flying. I NEVER dress sloppy when flying. I typically compromise comfort for style, even when dragging  luggage through the airport. This time I wore a cute sweat shirt with pink on it over a lime green spagetti strap sports bra with Miss Me Jeans and my Pink & Green tennies to match- and I was comfy but not sloppy.

Here is the picture of my shoes taking a ride through security with one of my favorite purses. 🙂

Reebok Realflex

Realflex Goes Wild

I wore my Realflexes to the Busch Sanctuary, where My family and I enjoyed a private tour and got to pet and feed the animals. Before Realflex, I would have probably worn flip flops over tennis shoes. Now my tennis shoes are just as much an accessory as my crazy lightening bolt knee high socks (Steve gave me for Christmas). Yes, tennis shoes are more practical and comfortable than flip flops, but now they can also be a fashion statement with all the fun color combinations they offer.

I’m not a fashion guru or anything, but I do want to look nice – and finally, I can dress both comfortably and fashionably all at once!

Reebok Reeborn? Sneak Peek of Sneaker Town 2013

Whatever you thought Reebok was, I guarantee you you’re wrong – I know I was. Here’s my behind the scenes report from my visit to Reebok headquarters, after I personally got an inside look in the company, and previewed the technology and trends coming out in 2013 – and coming into your homes!

As I sit, 34,000 feet in the air, on my flight home from Reebok headquarters in Boston I don’t even know how to begin explaining what I just experienced – and what you, the customer will start experiencing now and in the coming months. One thing I can say is, you need to start saving money now – because no matter what your fitness routine is, you WILL want (NEED!) Reebok in your closet – and I’ll tell you why.

The Resurrection

First, I need to confess this: I’ve never been a Reebok fan. Just a few months ago, my first thought of Reebok tennis shoes would cause Jazzercise flashbacks of white leather tennies, thick scrunchy socks and rolled up jeans. Even though that is a thing of the past, their middle of the road boring clothes and bulky blah shoes never captured my attention over the last few years. Although they maintained quality products, they always seems a little out of date and missing the competitive edge needed to grab my attention – and my credit card.

I’m warning you now, THAT old Reebok is dead and gone, so guard your credit card, because you will want to max it out when you start exploring what is going on at Reebok headquarters, and across the globe, one lucky hand-picked store at a time. A new Reebok has risen, and as you can imagine by looking at some of my own kicks (pictured left), you need to hold on to your panties because the new Reebok walks through walls and has miraculous super powers that will attract followers by the droves and change lives – and that’s what fitness is all about. It’s all about changing lives.

Love at First Sweat

Personally, I prefer brands who practice what they preach. One, because the product and service is always better when a company actually uses their brand regularly, and two, because I have a thing for supporting good people. What can I say? I’m a sucker for wanting the good guys to win – and Reebok is the ultimate good guy company.

From the way they treated us the second we touched down, to the way they treated each other within the company, it is obvious this company values people. Each member of the team proudly introduced their coworkers with such pride and respect for one another. No pride, no egos, no corporate snobs – just a bunch of people working together for a common goal – and that goal is developing footwear and apparel that will help people get fit, and make sure they have fun doing it.

The Reebok MOVEment

How do you get a brand to impact customers and help them get fit? You start with the employees, like 74yr old AnnMarie here flexing it up with me after working out along side my hubby, Steve, at Reebok CrossFit One.

Honestly, it’s one thing for an engineer or designer to develop a great kick-butt shoe and a ridiculously cool looking shirt that won’t sour in your gym bag after getting soaked from a sweaty workout. It’s totally another thing to have an engineer or designer who not only develops that shoe, or piece of clothing, but they wear it, test it, train in it, and live in it day after to day. They literally take their work home with them. THAT’s what’s happening at Reebok – and, ultimately, we the consumer benefit.

Test Track

In addition to the staff living fitness out and testing out their own product, they wanted to hear what we the consumer wanted, as we put their products to the test in the real world on a daily basis.

We got to run in their shoes (pictured right, with their running coach in red) and workout in their apparel, and truly put them to the test. As a part of a focus group, they not only asked for our ideas and input, but they encouraged complaints. Honestly? Who does that anymore?

Of course, it will only make them better, but most companies filled with experienced experts in their field typically don’t want to hear what a bunch of gym rats think. Reebok not only wanted to know what we thought, they wanted to hear it all – the good, bad and ugly. They eagerly listened and respected our opinion, taking notes and truly listening to every word. Although I can’t share with you what was discussed, believe me, we will see the input implemented, and I will remember the day we had the discussion that impacted your buying experience. A truly amazing experience and an honor.

Briefcases and Gym Bag

Reebok headquarters wasn’t just a huge office complex filled with men in suits. It was a fitness complex, complete with a state of the art gym, outdoor track, and a CrossFit gym (called Reebok CrossFit One) led by some of the most elite trainers and athletes in the country – and the world.

Because of the company’s dedication to fitness, Reebok employees are fit and active. Out of 1,000 employees, over 600 employees are members of there CrossFit gym and do intense training on a regular basis. Although I imagine there must be employees that haven’t arrived at their fitness goals yet, I didn’t see one overweight or out of shape employee the entire visit. Unlike many companies in the fitness business who have employees who are clueless about fitness, and are just all about business, Reebok is jam-packed with employees who appear to be just as passionate about fitness as they are their paycheck. Watching employees hit the locker room for a quick workout on their lunch break was totally refreshing. Totally inspiring.

Although I’m sure it will take time for the new Reebok to truly impact the world like they plan, it is a brand you need to keep your eye on if you want to get, or stay, Fit.

The New Reebok, Product Review: Should You Rock the Boks?

I recently had the privilege to try several new pair of Reebok shoes. Although I have not been asked to do a product review by the company, since I’ve had so many questions and they have so many stinkin’ styles, I decided to ‘learn up’ on the styles I had and pass along what I think about my new kicks so you could decide whether you want to Rock the Boks too.

First, before I begin. 2 things. One, I won’t tell you how great a product unless I think it’s great – period. If I don’t like something, I’ll tell you. Two, the Reebok I once knew is long gone. The once boring-and-behind company has taken a huge leap ahead, joining forces with CrossFit, and taking its products into the stratosphere of elite fitness training. So far, everything I’ve tried – shirts, tanks, capris, crossfit gear, socks and shoes, I’ve loved and been surprised by. Now, on to my shoe review! 🙂

Quick Product Review

ZigLite Electrify – $99

They come in 9 color combinations for women. I have the Gravel (charcoal grey) and Dynamite Pink ones.

Quick Review: They are great if you like a lot of support. The ZigTech sole is very cushiony. I normally run in a thinner, lighter weight shoe, but I ran in these last weekend and my body had no complaints. Although I don’t like for my foot to feel “strapped in”, I know many people need more foot support. Another issue for some is if you have big feet, these shoes will make your feet look even bigger. Girls with small feet look totally hot wearing them and they’re perfect for men with little man syndrome ;). I, myself, prefer less cushion, less material, less of pretty much everything. But, with that said, I also have worn these a lot because I’m a sucker for pink and they are comfortable shoes. I do get a lot of compliments when I wear them. (I think it’s the flashy pink zig design that draws people’s eye to them.) I prefer to wear these when I’m weight training because they match a lot of my gym clothes. But, like I said, I ran in them and they did do really well if you like all that shoe on your feet. No complaints, but not my favorite.

RealFlex Fusion TR – $99

They come in 12 color combinations for women. I have the Zinc Grey, Modern Blue & Charged Green ones.

Quick Review: I LOVE the color combinations they offer with these! Pink and green, killer pink and black ones and awesome electric green and black ones. If you look at the other colors, you can see they have a really cool pattern to them as well. As far as the how the shoe feels, they are actually one of my favorite shoes to wear. It’s almost like wearing a sock. They are insanely light and the material is super thin. The RealFlex sole of the shoe are made up of little cubes of rubber, which make the shoe flex in all directions. This is perfect for CrossFit training, plyometrics, running and pretty much any kind of training if you like the feeling of free movement, which I do. Bottom line, I love everything about these shoes. If I had every color, I would wear them every day. The only problem I have is I don’t have clothes to match them or I’d wear them more. Looks like I’ll have to go shopping. 🙂

SmoothFlex Cush Run – $79

They come in 8 color combinations for women. I have the Black & Buzzed Blue ones.

These shoes are super comfortable. They have the same type of sole, with what they call “nodes” that look like miniature ice cubes to me, but their design is to improve flexibility in all directions, making it a great cross trainer. From what I understand the SmoothFlex Cush Run sole is designed to be more durable than the RealFlex Fusion shoe and are great for outdoor training. The added cushion and rubber makes sense as soon as you step on a pebble. 😉 I really love their info videos that helps you understand what each shoe is made for. They really helped me a lot when it came to choosing the right shoe for the right activity.

Bonnie’s Pick:

Which ones are my favorite? I have to say the RealFlex Fusion TR (seen below in various colors). I think I want all 12 pair!! I love how light they feel, how comfortable the are and I love the color combos they offer.

No Fitness Mantra Will Workout For You

We all love motivational quotes. We love how they make us feel, and we like how it makes us think. HOWEVER, we can’t rely on feeling motivated to get us to the gym. Motivation will not suddenly show up and magically create a super natural energy in us that makes us run like a deer or lift like an ox.

The only thing truly magical is how our body changes when we run, even when we don’t feel like it. Or, how our physique changes when we hit the weights, even when we would prefer to hit the sack. Only after we keep showing up, day after day and working out whether we feel like it or not, is when the real magic happens. Then, we find ourselves more motivated than any fitness mantra could make us. Why? Because we motivated by our own results.

Stop waiting for motivation, and start working out. #getafterit
