The Incredible Flexible Washable Reebok Skyscape

Reebok did it again! They came out with the cutest, lightest (5 OUNCE!) , seamless, super comfy and totally machine washable (DID YOU HEAR ME???? I SAAAID MACHINE WASHABLE!!! how COOL is THAT?!) tennis shoe, perfect for daily wear! It’s call the Reebok Skyscape.

Sometimes you just want a cute minimal shoe that is cozy but doesn’t look like an athletic shoe for those days you want to be comfy but you don’t want to look like you are going for a run. If this is YOU, then you might want to try out this cool new pair of kicks.

The material is wild! It’s smooth, soft and stretchy material makes this shoe like nothing else I’ve ever put on my foot. Plus, it has a pillowy tongue with extra cushion so tight laces don’t cut off circulation or irritate the top of your foot. Basically, comfy was their focus and they nailed it. I wore it to work yesterday, knowing I was going to have to stand on my feet for several hours straight, and they didn’t let me down.

On the Right Track

In fitness, you don’t just want to stay on track, you want to keep moving ahead! Sadly, there are a lot of people that get on track, make a little progress, and then just stop, for no apparent reason, before they ever reach their goal.

That’s like showing up for a race, running half of it and then just sitting down on the side of the road. Who does that? Well, pretty much everyone at some point in time on their fitness journey. No one in their right mind would do that in a marathon, unless they were injured. But, when it comes to working out, dieting, etc., people do it all the time.

Many times a person thinks “I did great, I lost XWZ pounds and I feel so much better” and they basically go sit down at the 20 mile mark. BUT, if they just kept on going, and wasn’t just satisfied was feeling “better”, they could do amazing and become their BEST.  Better is always good, but why stop short from experiencing your best?

Have you become comfortable where you are right now with your routine, weight or diet? Or are you ready to see this thing all the way through and finish this things like a champ?! The same work that you did to get where you are now will keep working to get you where you want to be – as long as you don’t slow down or quit. Boost Your Workout With This 2-Minute Blitz

If you feel like you need a little oomph in your workouts, or maybe you just want to work on your conditioning. The 2-Minute Blitz is a perfect quick circuit to put in your existing routine.

The Blitz is only made up of 4 simple, but intense, exercises. The idea is to go as fast as you can for 10 seconds for each exercise, and repeat the circuit 3 times through (without rest) for 2 minutes. It will really get your heart rate going, and take your workout to another level. Give it a try!

The New Nano Speed – The Perfect Cross-Trainer

If you are looking for a running shoe that is also a great cross-training shoe (perfect for blitzes like this one, and weight training), Reebok just came out with a new cross training shoe, called the Nano Speed – a part of their new CrossFit Speed Collection.

The Nano Speed has some of the same technology as the Nano 2.0 and Nano 3.0, but it made for longer runs. So, if you want to do a run, as well as hit the gym, this maybe just what you are looking for!

Reebok says, “There are plenty of running shoes that you can do CrossFit in, but we made the FIRST CrossFit shoe that you can run in.” You don’t have to do CrossFit to enjoy this shoe – anyone who lifts weights, does boot camps or sports conditioning will enjoy having a great cross-training shoe.

The CrossFit Nano Speed Is:

  • Lightweight (lighter is better!)
  • Durable (because we want shoes to last)
  • Greater traction (great for box jumps)
  • flexibility (mountain climbers)
  • Protects for feet for impact (plyos)
  • Rope Guard (for climbing rope)

Booties and Hammies – Workout & Training Tips

bonnie pfiesterThis was my workout today with Max chica, Lindsey Fleisher, today. The emphasis for today’s workout was glutes and hamstrings, but we were also working the inner thigh, quads and a bit of core too.

First, I started out with overhead squats to loosen my tight muscles up from doing quads on Monday. It’s a great warm up and a great stretch. I started out sore, and by the last set I worked out my soreness and was ready to GO!

james hobart Below is a great instructional video for a proper overhead squat with CrossFit athlete, James Hobart, pictured left with me (with shorter hair).  I had the privilege of working out with him last year at Reebok CrossFit One. He is a BEAST!!! He’s the one that really taught me a few key pointers that helped me improve my squat. I have always squatted pretty heavy for a girl, but never as deeply as I can now. I had, what they call, an immature squat. I always have had trouble going deep, while staying on my heels and keeping my upper body upright. Once I learned how to do an overhead squat, I realized my issue was not strength but flexibility. I do the stretching exercises (at the very bottom of this blog) which has also helped me a ton. 🙂

PS: While overhead squats have been around for a long time, they’ve really been made popular by CrossFit. Although this isn’t a CrossFit workout, I love incorporating all kinds of training in my workouts to keep things fresh and challenging.This particular workout is more of a body sculpting workout, with a direct emphasis on the lifting and firming up the fanny and back of the thighs. Increase weight to build more strength or reduce rest time to create more intensity for more conditioning.

Glutes & Hamstrings

3 Sets of 40 (steps) Dumbbells Walking Lunges

4 Sets of 18 Staight-Leg Dead Lifts

3 Sets of 18 Prone Leg Curls

3 Sets of 20 Curties

3 Sets of (Low) 20 Knee Repeaters*

*TIP: Start with your elbow touching (not leaning on) your knee, with your back straight staying in that position while moving the opposite leg (no weight on that back leg). All the weight should remain on the front leg. You can tap the back toe for balance – but not to take weight off the front leg.

Best Workout Shorts On the Planet

reebok shortsOk, so I’ve been eyeballing these Reebok  CrossFit shorts for a while. Then I went to the mall to get a pair. I wore them once and immediately went online and ordered 4 more pair (shhhh! don’t tell Steve).

The material is super lightweight and flexible (even great for squats & stuff!). The velcro fly and adjustable tie gives makes them flexible to fit your size no matter how your weight fluctuates. I don’t normally like the whole built-in undies, but these shorts just couldn’t get more comfortable so I don’t even notice they are there. Plus, the extra coverage makes it even more comfortable when you are stretching, or have to sprawl out (and don’t want to offer a free peep show if you know what I mean!). All in all, I couldn’t wait to blog about them (normally I do a lot more pics and content). I just needed to get the info out there.

It’s Not Going To Be Easier Tomorrow

Why do we put off things for tomorrow? It’s not like we will be less busy, less stressed, less tired, less fat… It’s not going to be any easier to do tomorrow. Honestly, if anything, it’s going to get harder each day we procrastinate.


I don’t know why we talk ourselves into putting diet and fitness off. I guess, like with any other responsibility, it’s just another thing we dread doing. But the reality is this: We WANT to be fit. We WANT to lose weight. We WANT to be disciplined. We WANT results. And, if we want any of those things, we are going to eventually HAVE to do what it takes to get there. So, if it’s only going to be harder each day we procrastinate, doesn’t it make sense just to start doing it today? You aren’t just putting off the work, you are putting off the results.


Motivation For Runners

You need to run BUT

IMG_1963When it comes to exercise, why do we even think twice about whether we should do it or not? Because we allow ourselves to fixate on how we feel NOW. Whether it’s how we feel physically, or how we feel emotionally, we let those feelings determine our actions. Yet, if we were to just focus on how we feel when we are FINISHED, I believe our actions would change drastically.

If you have a goal, let all your actions (what you eat, what you do, what you sacrifice) all be to get you one step closer to that goal. I think our problem is we do too much thinking, and too little doing. Next time you think about whether you should workout or not, you are waisting precious time pondering the inevitable – so just do it! You know it has to get done eventually if you want to reach your goal.

DeterminationI woke up today to stormy weather. Thunder and lightening woke me up. Steve left the house to go to the gym this morning around 4:45am to train his first client, Corinne. When he arrived, there was no power. It was storming like a hurricane and completely pitch black for blocks. Did that stop them? Nope! Steve pulled out a flashlight and they trained in the dark.

So next time you think you have an excuse to skip your workout, remember you can do whatever you want if you want it bad enough. 9 times out of ten, it’s not about whether you can, it’s just whether you will.

You Can If You Will

How much time have you wasted contemplating something you know you should do?
How much time do we waste creating excuses to get out of what we need to do?
How many times have we spent more time thinking about doing something than actually doing the something?

We sure wast a LOT of time!

Listen, if you WANT to be fit, quit wanting and start working on being fit. Whether you can or not rarely is even a question. It’s just a matter of whether you WILL. As long as you make your workouts optional, you are allowing your success to be optional. Quit wasting precious time. Just show up!
