WORKOUT: Box Jump Full-Body Blitz

Box Jump WorkoutGrab a plyo box, bench or aerobics step and get ready to get your heart pumping! This is a great workout to put with an upper body strength program, like chest day, or you can even add it to a light cardio day to boost calorie burn and intensity.

Do the whole workout or break it up however you like. Do one or two rounds between each circuit of exercises or do one round each time you change exercises. There is no wrong way to add a BCx Blitz to a workout.

To make it even easier, here are 2 different examples of how you can add a simple routine like this to your existing program.

Conditioning Chest Workout:

4 Sets of Bench Press
2 Rounds of Box Jump Blitz
4 Sets of Incline Press
2 Rounds of Box Jump Blitz
4 Sets of Pec Deck or Incline Flies
2 Rounds of Box Jump Blitz

Shrink Wrap Your Waist with this Killer Core Workout

LiveExercise Hard Core WorkoutThis was the first circuit in last week’s LiveXfit show (Episode 7) at LiveExercise.com (or on Roku) – and I have to tell ya! My obliques were SO sore! BUT, I loved it. I was dying during the workout (wanted to fall to the floor, I could barely hold my body in plank – and those squat thrusts were BRUTAL!). Anywho! After I did it, I loved it. I just didn’t really like it WHILE I was doing it – but that’s nothing new! hahaha

Honestly though, I felt this workout literally shrink wrapped my core. My abs were so nice and tight, my waist was tone (and SORE! lol) and I was able to hold my stomach flatter from the recently tightened and toned muscles. I need to do this at least once a week! It was great! Give it a try!

No More Boring Treadmill Workouts!

It seems like it was yesterday that I did this insane workout in our living room, as a guinea pig for Steve’s upcoming treadmill workout video called BCx Treadz. Let me tell you what! My legs were on FIRE, my heart was about to POP OUT of my chest and I SWEAT enough to fill a bucket! This workout was no joke. Go ahead, watch me DIE and BEG for mercy!! lol

After doing that workout, I realize how lame my boring cardio had been – and I realized how EXCITED people would be to REVIVE their dusty old treadmill that acts more like a coat rack than a piece of fitness equipment.

Get Your Upper Body Sweat-Fest on with Alex!

Alex CartwrightThis week’s Designer Whey workout is dedicated to country music singer, and song-writer, Alex Cartwright. Alex requested a new upper body cardio routine, as opposed to weight lifting routines. As Alex said, the upper body tends to get left out – especially for those who don’t have a lot of equipment to work with. Why? Because it’s challenging to work your upper body without weights – challenging, but not impossible. You just have to be more creative. That’s where I come in!

♪♬♪♫ Well Alex, (said in my best twangy voice possible) I whipped up a nice batch of southern-fried bodyweight exercises for ya that will make you hotter than a goat’s butt in a pepper patch – designed to tone up those guitar-strumming Crazy Arms, get your Achy Breaky Heart rate up , and make your fat burn like a Ring of Fire! Jump Right In and get this Done!  When you’re finished you’ll be happier than a tornado in a trailer park and purty as a spotted horse in a daisy pasture! So, pull out those sleeveless tops and do this workout often so you can Get Your Shine On every time you hit that stage!  ♪♬♪♫ (sorry, I’m a southern girl myself and I couldn’t resist!)

Tools: All you need is a sturdy wall or door, jump rope, pull-up bar or bands for pulldowns. (I do assisted pull ups using one black Bodylastics band looped over attached to one handle for my right foot. Click here to see various modifications for pull ups)

ALEX Upper body cardioUpper Body Strength & Cardio Workout

• 100 Jumping Jacks
• 10 Burpees
• 15 Push-up
• 20 Tricep Dips
• 100 Jump Rope
• 10 Pull-ups (or pull downs)
• 15 Wall-Ups
• 20 Sit-ups
• 100-Second Plank (1 min, 40 sec)

Repeat 3 Rounds

It took me 8 minutes & 40 seconds to go through one round, so if you can do the whole workout in about 30 minutes you are rocking! Beginners should get it done in 40-45 minutes. 

Do ALEX twice a week, as your upper body workout in your full body toning routine.

Monday: ALEX Upper Body
Tuesday: Lower Body
Wednesday: Cardio & Abs
Thursday: ALEX Upper Body
Friday: Lower Body
Weekends: Off or more cardio 🙂

Training Tip: Give your body at least 24 hours rest before working the same body part – and 48 hours rest when doing intense weight training.

Swing & Sweat Kettlebell Workout

Swing & Sweat WorkoutTake your training up a notch with kettlebell training!! Kettlebell training is strength and cardiovascular exercise wrapped up into one awesome extremely effective style of training. Because it trains both the heart and lungs, as well as our muscles, it also saves times.

Kettlebell exercises also burn more calories and fat than traditional training with dumbbells- AND it works more muscles, including your core. For example, where a shoulder press isolates your shoulder muscles, a kettlebell snatch or one-arm press challenges your core, works your legs when you add a swing or squat, AND works your shoulders and arms too. Bottom line, you get more bang for your buck!

Repeat 4 rounds for time to amp up the intensity. Get your towel ready and be prepared to SWEAT!

Bootylicious Leg & Glute Conditioning Circuit

I put in a new circuit in my leg workout and really loved (hated) it, so I’m sharing!
This workout works the glutes, hamstrings, core, quads, inner thigh and shoulders.

How to do a Thruster: Before you get started, you need to know how to do a thruster. Start standing, with feet shoulder width a part. Squat to the floor (go as deep as you safely can) and squat back up to a standing positoin and complete the final movement with a shoulder press, extending arms completely out before returning to the racked (beginning) position.

Bootylicious Lower Body Conditioning Circuit

15 DEEP Thrusters, see photo below
(20lb Dumbbells)

30 Overhead Walking Lunges

Do 3-4 Times, resting only after each full circuit.
